JOHANNESBURG- Alleged criminal kingpin Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala is planning to approach the High Court to force Correctional Services to transfer him to Kgosi Mampuru Prison in Pretoria. He appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court, where prosecutors raised concerns about the inconvenience of IDAC officials having to transport him from Kokstad back to Gauteng for court appearances.
Matlala, who is facing fraud and corruption charges alongside 12 police officers linked to a R360-million tender awarded to his company, appeared in court in leg and hand chains. His lawyer confirmed plans to approach the High Court but did not reveal the details of the application. The case has been postponed for consultations and will return to court on 13 May 2026.
