PRETORIA – Businessman Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala appeared before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry on Wednesday, where his lawyer sought to postpone his testimony until after his criminal trial, arguing that testifying now could compromise his right against self-incrimination.
The application follows Matlala’s rejection of a state plea deal. His testimony is expected to be key as the commission investigates allegations of corruption, organised crime and political influence.
