The Confederation of African Football (CAF) says it will introduce changes to its statutes and regulations to prevent a repeat of the 2026 Africa Cup of Nations final controversy. CAF president Patrice Motsepe said the reforms will also help restore trust in referees, VAR officials, and judicial structures.

Motsepe was speaking after a CAF Executive Committee meeting in Cairo, Egypt. The move follows the chaotic final, where Senegal were stripped of the title and Morocco awarded the trophy after Senegal walked off in protest over a late penalty decision, prompting a successful appeal by Morocco’s football federation.
