HONG KONG- South Africa finally ended their long wait for a Hong Kong Sevens title by defeating defending champions Argentina 35-7 in a dominant final. The Blitzboks, who had previously lost four finals in Hong Kong since 1993, produced a strong performance to secure their first-ever win at the iconic tournament, marking a major milestone in their history.
The victory came during a celebratory edition of the event, which marked its 50th anniversary and featured three days of intense rugby action at Kai Tak Stadium. In the women’s competition, New Zealand continued their dominance by beating Australia 19-14 to claim a fourth consecutive Hong Kong title, as fireworks closed off the tournament in festive style.
