MEXICO – Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has stressed the importance of sticking to the game plan as South Africa prepare to face Mexico in their 2026 World Cup opener at the Estadio Azteca on Thursday, 11 June. He has warned that Mexico are a “dangerous” side, especially in major tournament openers.

Bafana head into the match without a win in their last four friendly games, with draws against Panama, Nicaragua, and Jamaica, and a loss to Panama. Mexico, however, are in strong form and remain unbeaten this year, coming into the clash with a series of convincing wins and positive results against strong international opponents.
