R8-billion has been lost in direct sales revenue due to the alcohol sales ban. And, that’s just from the wine industry. This is according to Non-Profit Company, Vinpro, which represents wine producers and cellars. Nandi Tshabalala talks to Vinpro’s Managing Director, Rico Basson. #eNCA

JOHANNESBURG – The Alcohol industry wants excise taxes to be deferred until the booze ban is lifted.

They say it’s extremely challenging to pay these taxes when they have no cash flow.

“The reason why we need a deferment is from a cash flow perspective,” says Rico Basson, managing director of Vinpro.

The wine industry alone has lost around R8-billion in direct sales revenue due to the ban.
