The Gauteng Department of Health has introduced several interventions to improve conditions at Dr Yusuf Dadoo Hospital following operational and infrastructure challenges at the facility. The hospital, which serves communities in Mogale City and surrounding parts of Johannesburg, has been facing pressure due to high patient numbers, ageing infrastructure, and staffing shortages.
The department said the hospital recorded accruals of R18.4 million from the previous financial year, with processes underway to settle them without affecting patient care. To strengthen services, 47 vacant posts have been advertised across nursing, administration, and support services, while urgent maintenance work is being carried out on plumbing, electrical systems, autoclaves, and other critical infrastructure. A 12-month maintenance plan has also been introduced to improve hospital operations and working conditions for healthcare workers.
