Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni has urged South Africa’s intelligence community to improve coordination and take decisive action to protect the country. Speaking at a 14 April 2026 ceremony for members of the National Intelligence Co-ordinating Committee (NICOC), she stressed that the gathering was more than symbolic, reaffirming the committee’s legal mandate under the National Strategic Intelligence Act of 1994.

Ntshavheni presented specially minted NCIC coins to members, describing them as symbols of unity across the five intelligence disciplines. She warned that poor information integration could expose the country to threats such as crime, espionage, and economic sabotage, and emphasized that intelligence must be timely and actionable. She concluded by calling on NICOC to remain a key decision-making body and to safeguard South Africa’s sovereignty.
