Police, taxi drivers, Private Security Companies and business owners in Vereeniging met at the Vereeniging Police Station, to secure the town and businesses against looters.. It is alleged that 15 people, who came in the morning with a quantum were beaten up at the taxi rank by the drivers before they could even get a chance to continue with their plan to loot and they are taken into police custody.
The plan that the group is coming up with is that all shops be closed and everyone should leave so that only armed response, taxi drivers and are in the streets in order to monitor and control entrances to town and people roaming for potential looting.
