PRETORIA – Suspended KwaZulu-Natal Hawks head Lesetja Senona is expected to testify before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry in Pretoria on Monday as hearings resume after a two-week recess. The commission is investigating allegations surrounding the disappearance of 541 kilograms of cocaine valued at about R200 million in KwaZulu-Natal in 2021.
Senona is accused of authorising the transfer of the cocaine from Isipingo police station to a Hawks storage facility in Port Shepstone. Previous witnesses told the commission that he instructed the consignment to be stored at the facility despite concerns about inadequate security. He is expected to answer questions regarding his alleged role in the disappearance of the drugs.
