ALEXANDRA – One person was shot and killed in Alexandra following anti-illegal immigration protests that turned violent. Police said the incident happened around 8pm when some community members were allegedly looting foreign-owned spaza shops and shots were fired.
Several shops were looted during the unrest linked to nationwide demonstrations held on Tuesday. The victim has not been identified and no arrests have been made, while authorities continue to investigate the incident.
