VANDERBIJLPARK – Residents from across the Vaal region gathered for a peaceful mass meeting at President Stadium in Vereeniging on 27 June 2026. Organiser Keswa said the event was successful, with participants first conducting a visibility campaign at local shops in Vereeniging before joining another march, known as Amabuthu, which started in Orange Farm and proceeded to Mandela Square.
Keswa said a follow-up meeting will be held in Vanderbijlpark on 28 June to prepare for planned activities on 30 June. He added that only the Vanderbijlpark march has been officially approved so far, while plans for other areas will be finalised during the week. He also said discussions with local leaders failed after they insisted that each area submit its own memorandum before approval could be granted. The outcome of the Vanderbijlpark meeting will determine the next steps.
