MALAWI – More than 1,200 displaced Malawian nationals are expected to return to Malawi this weekend through a voluntary repatriation programme. Their departure comes amid ongoing protests in South Africa targeting undocumented migrants.
Malawi’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs says eight buses carrying 560 people have already left South Africa, while another ten buses transporting about 700 people departed on Friday. The returnees are expected to enter Malawi through the Mwanza border post, where they will be processed in Blantyre before being transported to their home districts.
