FRANCE – The United States and Iran have signed an interim ceasefire agreement aimed at ending their conflict. Speaking at the G7 summit in France, US President Donald Trump warned that the US would resume military action and target Iranian officials if Tehran violated the terms of the deal.
Trump also appeared to soften his earlier stance on Iran’s ballistic missile programme, saying it would be unfair to deny the country such weapons after previously pledging to eliminate them. The agreement is intended to halt hostilities, but Trump stressed that strict consequences would follow any breach of the ceasefire.
