JOHANNESBURG – The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development, in partnership with the Wits Law Clinic, the South African University Law Clinics Association (SAULCA), and the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA), will host an engagement with law students at the University of the Witwatersrand on 15 June 2026 as part of National Youth Day commemorations. The programme aims to provide a platform for discussions on clinical legal education, with experts sharing insights on current trends, challenges, innovation opportunities, and ways to strengthen practical legal training.
The engagement will also focus on the difficulties facing law students and legal education practitioners amid growing pressures in higher education and the legal sector. Discussions will explore strategies to ensure the sustainability of university law clinics and their continued role in developing future legal professionals. The Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mmamoloko Kubayi, is expected to deliver the keynote address at the event.
