JOHANNESBURG – Former Johannesburg mayor Herman Mashaba has dismissed claims by current mayor Dada Morero that his leadership contributed to the City’s decline. Morero made the remarks while appearing before the Standing Committee on Public Accounts to discuss Johannesburg’s financial situation.
Mashaba said Parliament should compare the City’s audited financial records during his tenure with its current state. He argued that Johannesburg achieved high customer satisfaction levels under his administration and accused Morero of appointing officials based on loyalty rather than competence.
