WESTERN CAPE – The Garden Route District Municipality has confirmed a new case of Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) at a small dairy farm in Oudtshoorn in the Little Karoo. The outbreak is located near Matjiesrivier in the Cango Valley, an area already affected by storm-related rockfalls that have restricted access.

State veterinary officials say this is the second confirmed case in the area after samples from animals with minor lesions tested positive. The affected farm has been placed under quarantine, and strict biosecurity measures have been introduced to contain the spread, while nearby Mossel Bay farms also remain under quarantine due to ongoing FMD concerns.
