JOHANNESBURG – Department of Home Affairs says only 10 out of 300 Ghanaian nationals who applied for repatriation were found to be legally documented in South Africa. The rest were reportedly either undocumented, had overstayed their visas, or were not complying with immigration requirements. The findings come as the group was processed for deportation flights back to Ghana in Johannesburg.

Ghana’s High Commission has confirmed that fewer than 300 citizens have so far boarded the repatriation flight from South Africa to Accra, with some individuals being turned away due to incomplete paperwork. Authorities say affected migrants will have another opportunity to travel on a second scheduled flight later this week, amid ongoing concerns over undocumented migration and enforcement actions in South Africa.
