WALKERVILLE- The Smart ID Card High-Impact Community Programme organised by the Department of Home Affairs will take place on 29 May 2026 (Friday) at 08:00 at the Walkerville SPAR Shopping Centre. The initiative is aimed at making government services more accessible to residents by bringing ID and civic document services directly into the community.

The programme offers several services, including free first-time Smart ID applications for eligible 16-year-olds and free ID issuance for citizens aged 60 and above, while re-issues cost R140. Additional services include passport applications (R600) and reprints of birth, death, or marriage certificates (R70). Applicants must bring the required documents, such as an unabridged birth certificate for first-time IDs or a certified ID copy and affidavit for lost documents, and all payments will be cashless only. The event will be held at Walkerville SPAR Shopping Centre.
