MIDVAAL-The Department of Home Affairs will host a Smart ID Card High-Impact Community Programme at the Midvaal Skill Center on Tuesday, 26 May 2026 at 08:00. The initiative is aimed at improving access to identity services by bringing application and document services directly to residents within the community.

The programme will assist first-time ID applicants, senior citizens, and individuals needing ID re-issues or document reprints. First-time Smart IDs are free for eligible 16-year-olds with an unabridged birth certificate and for seniors aged 60 and above with a green ID book, while re-issues cost R140 with required supporting documents such as affidavits and police reports. Additional services include passport applications for R600 and reprints of birth, death, and marriage certificates for R70, with all payments processed on a cashless basis.
