MAMELLO- The Department of Home Affairs will host a Smart ID Card High-Impact Community Programme at the Mamello Informal Settlements on Tuesday, 26 May 2026 at 08:00. The outreach aims to make it easier for residents to access identity services by bringing applications and collections directly to the community.
The programme will assist first-time applicants, senior citizens, and people needing ID re-issues or document replacements. First-time Smart IDs are free for eligible 16-year-olds with an unabridged birth certificate and for those aged 60 and above with a green ID book, while re-issues cost R140 with required supporting documents. Additional services include passports for R600 and reprints of key documents for R70, with cashless payments only.
