Gauteng MEC for Education, Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, Lebogang Maile has wished Mamelodi Sundowns well ahead of their CAF Championships clash against AS FAR at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Sunday, 17 May 2026. Speaking on behalf of the Gauteng Provincial Government, Maile said he is confident Sundowns will once again make Gauteng and South Africa proud on the continental stage.
Maile praised Sundowns for their rich football history, talented squad and exciting style of play, saying the club has consistently shown tactical strength in both local and African competitions. He added that the team’s performances in the CAF Championships continue to inspire supporters and strengthen Gauteng’s reputation as the Home of Champions.
