VEREENIGING- The Gauteng Provincial Labour Desk launched a campaign in Vereeniging on Wednesday, 13 May 2026, aimed at removing foreign nationals from the area. The campaign started along Voortrekker Street near Mark Park Shopping Centre and was attended by community members, police, and other stakeholders. Provincial chairperson, Veli Mcinga said the initiative was intended to restore order in Vereeniging and create more employment opportunities for local residents. Around 70 parents and young people from the community supported the campaign.

Mcinga stated that the organisation believes reducing the number of foreign nationals in the area could help lower unemployment and poverty levels. Community member Ndinki Kgotleng also called on parents to stand up for the rights of their children, particularly regarding job opportunities and the growing concern over drug abuse affecting young people in the community.
