CAPE TOWN- Pressure is mounting on President Cyril Ramaphosa to step down after the Constitutional Court overturned Parliament’s 2022 decision to reject the Section 89 Panel Report. The court ordered that an impeachment committee be formed to investigate possible wrongdoing by the President.
Political parties including the Economic Freedom Fighters, ActionSA and African Transformation Movement are calling for Ramaphosa’s resignation, while the MK Party wants a motion of no confidence. South African Communist Party says the impeachment process should begin as soon as possible, with EFF leader Julius Malema insisting the President must resign.
