STRAIT OF HORMUZ- Donald Trump says a ceasefire agreement with Iran remains in place despite a military confrontation between Iranian forces and US naval destroyers in the Strait of Hormuz. The US claims Iran launched missiles, drones, and small boats targeting three American warships in what it described as an unprovoked attack. Trump said Iran had “trifled” with the United States during the incident.

Iran, however, denied the US version of events and accused American forces of striking an Iranian oil tanker and another vessel near the Strait of Hormuz, as well as carrying out aerial attacks on coastal areas. The exchange of accusations marks a sharp escalation in tensions, coming just a day after Iran indicated it was considering a US proposal aimed at ending the conflict.
