FORT LAUDERDALE- More than 100 passengers and 13 crew members aboard the Caribbean Princess cruise ship have fallen ill following a norovirus outbreak, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The infected individuals have reportedly been isolated from other travelers to help prevent further spread of the virus.

Norovirus is a common and highly contagious virus that causes symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea. The Caribbean Princess departed from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on April 28 and is expected to return to Florida on Monday. Health officials continue monitoring the situation as containment measures remain in place.
