KWAZULU-NATAL- Sithembiso Ngema has been elected as the new provincial leader of the Democratic Alliance (DA) in KwaZulu-Natal at the party’s provincial congress held in Durban. He takes over from outgoing leader Francois Rodgers and was previously serving as deputy provincial leader. Ngema also served as a DA councillor in the eThekwini Municipality before joining the KwaZulu-Natal legislature in September 2023.

The congress also confirmed other leadership positions within the party structure. Dean Macpherson was re-elected as provincial chairperson, while Martin Meyer retained his role as deputy provincial leader. Additional appointments include Sandile Mnikathi as first deputy chairperson, Sakhile Mngadi as second deputy chairperson, and Swelakhe Shelembe as third deputy chairperson.
