UKRAINE AND RUSSIA- US President Donald Trump has announced a three-day ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, set to run from 9 May to 11 May. In a post on Truth Social, he said the agreement would include a full pause in “all kinetic activity” as well as a proposed exchange of 1 000 prisoners from each side. Trump described the development as a potential step toward ending the long-running and deadly conflict.
He added that ongoing talks were making steady progress toward a broader peace deal. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the announcement of the temporary ceasefire. The development comes as both Moscow and Kyiv continue to accuse each other of violating previous ceasefire agreements.
