The Public Service Commission (PSC) has found that the appointment of Lesedi Mabiletja as private secretary in Social Development Minister Sisisi Tolashe’s office was irregular, as she reportedly did not meet the required qualifications and experience. Despite this, Mabiletja was later promoted to acting Chief of Staff, earning a package of over R1 million.
The PSC further revealed that Mabiletja had also been implicated in fraud and has since resigned from the Department. Hendrica Sethole from the PSC stated that Mabiletja was not qualified for the senior role, and recommended that Minister Tolashe take action against all officials involved in the irregular appointments.
