GAUTENG- Democratic Alliance (DA) in Gauteng has raised serious concern about safety in the province following reports that 27 rape cases involving law enforcement officers have been recorded by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID). The party says the figures are alarming, especially given the already high levels of sexual violence in the province.

The DA says the cases involve officers from both the South African Police Service and municipal metro police, including traffic officers, showing that the problem cuts across different law enforcement structures. The party has called for urgent intervention, stronger consequences for offenders, and improved security at police stations to protect both the public and officers.
