GAUTENG HONOURS YOUTH CARE WORKERS

The Gauteng Department of Social Development is recognising the important role played by Child and Youth Care Workers during Child and Youth Care Workers Week 2026, observed from 4 to 10 May. The department praised these frontline workers for providing care, protection, guidance and emotional support to vulnerable children in communities, schools and Child and Youth Care Centres across the province.

The department said Child and Youth Care Workers help children affected by abuse, neglect, substance abuse and other social challenges by creating safe and supportive environments. Gauteng Social Development also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the workers through training, skills development and child protection programmes aimed at strengthening families and protecting children’s rights and dignity.
