Civic voices have also joined the debate, with Thembisa Parliament spokesperson Matthews Maphala expressing alarm over the alleged loss of young lives. Residents say they are acting to protect their families, with some accusing spaza shop owners of selling unsafe products while buying safer food for themselves elsewhere. Community members like Khabonina Makhanya say children are the most affected and are calling for immediate intervention to restore safety and trust in local food vendors.
