JOHANNESBURG- Deputy Minister in the Presidency Kenny Morolong delivered a keynote address at the MDDA Funders’ Breakfast held in Johannesburg, where he emphasised the critical role of community media in strengthening democracy and ensuring that all South Africans have access to reliable information. He highlighted that community media continues to serve as an essential voice for underserved and rural communities.
Morolong called for stronger collaboration between government, private sector funders and media stakeholders to support sustainable and digitally advanced community media platforms. He also urged increased investment in the sector to help community media organisations adapt to the evolving digital environment and maintain their contribution to development, inclusion and public participation across the country.
