JOHANNESBURG- The March and March Movement has shifted its demonstrations to Johannesburg after previously bringing business activity in central Pretoria to a standstill. The movement is continuing its campaign calling for the immediate removal of undocumented foreign nationals from South Africa, linking the issue to concerns over rising unemployment. It is led by founder Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma.
The group, which is supported by some civil society organisations and political parties, has expanded its “clean-up” operations from Durban into Gauteng. During its recent march in Pretoria, law enforcement maintained a strong presence to prevent violence and ensure order as protesters voiced their grievances on the streets.
