UNITED KINGDOM- A recent Ipsos poll shows Britons are deeply divided over whether the upcoming US visit by King Charles III should go ahead. The survey, conducted among 1,072 adults between April 17 and 21, found 42% in favour of the visit and 43% against it. Around four in ten respondents also said they believed the trip would make no meaningful difference to UK–US relations.

The poll further found growing scepticism about the so-called “special relationship” between Britain and the United States, with 48% of respondents saying they do not believe it currently exists—an increase of seven percentage points from the previous month. After his White House visit, King Charles is scheduled to address the US Congress at 3 p.m. (1900 GMT), where he is expected to stress unity and strong ties between the two countries.
