Emfuleni Local Municipality has announced a planned power shutdown at the Powerville Main Substation to carry out maintenance on a 20MVA transformer. The interruption will affect key facilities including Leeukuil Correctional Services, SAB, Transnet, the Fresh Market, and the Leeukuil Waste Water Treatment Plant.
The outage is scheduled from Monday, 4 May 2026 at 08:00 until Friday, 8 May 2026 at 20:00. Residents and affected customers are warned that supply may return at any time during this period, and all electrical appliances should be treated as live. The municipality has apologized for the inconvenience.
