JEFFREYS BAY- A female traffic officer has died following a head-on collision with a long-distance bus on the N2 near Jeffreys Bay. She was reportedly returning to her station in a state vehicle after attending to an earlier incident when the crash occurred. Emergency services arrived at the scene and had to use specialised equipment to free her after she became trapped in the wreckage.
Despite rescue efforts, she was declared dead on impact. All passengers on the bus escaped without injuries. The N2 remains closed as recovery and clean-up operations continue. Police have opened a case of culpable homicide, and investigations are underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
