JOHANNESBURG- Police at OR Tambo International Airport have arrested a 26-year-old Brazilian national after he was found in possession of cocaine valued at an estimated R8.7 million. The drugs were discovered during a search of his luggage, where multiple blocks of cocaine had been carefully wrapped and concealed.
According to police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe, the arrest was made on Sunday afternoon following intelligence-driven operations targeting transnational drug trafficking networks. The suspect had just arrived from Brazil and is expected to appear in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday on charges of drug trafficking.
