Veteran actress and former beauty queen Cynthia Shange has passed away at the age of 76. Her family confirmed that she died in the early hours of Monday in a KwaZulu-Natal hospital following an illness. She was widely respected for her long-standing contribution to South Africa’s arts and entertainment industry.
Shange made history as the first Black Miss Africa South and represented the country at Miss World in London in 1972. She later became a household name through her roles in productions like uDeliwe, Shaka Zulu, and Muvhango. Her impact on the industry earned her lifetime achievement awards from both the SAFTAs and the Simon Mabhunu Sabela Awards.
