National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola has reiterated that Police Minister Senzo Mchunu did not consult or inform him before deciding to disband the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT). Masemola made the remarks during his appearance as a repeat witness before Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee investigating national security matters.
Masemola told MPs that the decision to dissolve the unit on the last day of 2024 was taken without his knowledge, maintaining the same testimony he delivered in October last year. He stressed that even in the lead-up to the immediate disbandment, there was no engagement or communication from Mchunu on the matter.
