Christine Lagarde speaks with Daniel Mminele.

President Cyril Ramaphosa has appointed Daniel Mminele as head of the newly established Presidential Climate Finance Task Team.

The former deputy Reserve Bank governor will lead the country’s efforts to mobilise finance for a just transition.

The announcement follows a R130-billion support package signed last year with the US and European countries to assist in the transition to a low carbon economy.

The presidency says the task team will advise the cabinet on how to align the package with the country’s regulations.
