BEIJING- China is introducing strict new drone regulations in Beijing, banning the sale, rental, and import of drones and key components. The rules, effective Friday, also require all drone owners to register their devices with the police and obtain permits before flying them. Authorities say the move is aimed at strengthening security and maintaining public safety in the capital.

Despite the restrictions, drones remain a key part of China’s growing “low-altitude economy,” a sector expected to generate over two trillion yuan by 2035. Across the country, drones are widely used for services such as food delivery, agriculture, and building maintenance, highlighting their increasing role in everyday life and economic development.
