The man was arrested on Thursday following information received by members of the EMPD drug enforcement unit several weeks ago, spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Wilfred Kgasago said.
Kgasago said the movements of the 29-year-old suspected drug supplier were closely monitored on a daily basis.
“The house on Bailleul Street in the suburb of Delville owned by a Nigerian national was pounced upon around 10:00 [on Thursday] whereupon narcotics valued at approximately R1.2m were recovered,” he said.
Officers uncovered 17 packets of the drug Cat in a baby cot as well as a plate of cocaine rocks in a refrigerator.
He is expected to appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court on Friday on charges of possession of illegal substances.
